Pendon Cottages

To produce the base of these fine structures high-quality white card with a matt surface is used along with plaster and balsa wood, if necessary.

Brick and stone courses (the horizontal mortar lines) are embossed into the card allowing for the adjustment of the brick bonds (vertical) at the corners of the model

Water colours are then used to first apply a mortar colour, and then paint each individual brick a slightly differnt colour.

Tiles and slates for the roof, if it is not thatched, are made from thin card and paper strips, with vertical cuts made to represent individual tiles. These are then placed to overlap. Watercolours are also used here.

Thatch is produced using bundles of plumbers hemp.

The museum is a great day out.
